  • Here I go again

This is my third time on Atkins and this time I knew I would need support. I have been very successful on Atkins in the past but it seems like the older I get the harder it is to get the weight off. I started on 2/27/10 and have only lost about 3 pounds....discouraging!!!

Every day I get so close to messing up but I haven't. I am obsessed with the scale so I promised myself I won't weight again until the 14th. I have been perfect and I mean perfect. Practically zero carbs, tons of water...doing it just like I am supposed to. I guess I just get frustrated that it used to work so fast and now...UGH.

    Any support is WELCOME!!!!

Oh I am currently 185 and my goal is 140.

    Welcome to ADBB!

    >>Practically zero carbs,>>

Atkins isn't zero carbs, or even practically zero carbs. So you haven't been "perfect" at all.

I hope you're reading the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) ... as it's pretty clear there in the chapter on Induction that you should be eating 20 NET carbs, with MOST coming from Induction vegetables.

In case you don't have the book handy, check out:

And hopefully your success this time will be to stay on Atkins (maintenance) once you've lost the weight by doing OWL and pre-maintenance ... then you son't have to lose the weight "again".

Yes I have read the book numerous times. 20 max carbs per day seems pretty much like zero to me. But thank you for the support I appreciate you taking the time to point out how I do Atkins wrong...even though I have successfully done this two other times. I gained weight because I had children...not for any other reason. I see this is the wrong place for me.

I am also starting over for the third time. As of 03/01/10. Each time it seems to take a little more effort to get the weight off. I also had to do alot more reasearch for induction friendly foods. Sugarfreesheila.com has some great stuff that has helped me through the rough spots. I am also thinking of joining some challenges. Good luck.

When someone says they're eating 0 carbs, I have to take them at their word. I can't assume they're really eating 20 net.

And 20 net maximum is only on Induction.

Yes, getting older and having children will really change your body and your metabolism. It is really a drag when the pounds don't just fall off. I had 2 children myself...and I know how that is...Well, good job following the plan perfectly. Seems you are right on track.

              Re: Here I go again

              Hey there and welcome.....

Could you be stressing a little? I know I have issues with stress sometimes and it makes me hold water....that could be one reason.

I'm 31 and I have still not seen huge changes in the scale but where things ARE happening is with my measurements....I have lost like 15 inches allover in the past month, so if you haven't measured, do that, so that at times when you only see a minimal change on the evil "scale" lol....then you will have your measurements to shine some light on you.

              Be encouraged and best wishes!
