  • I was told to stop by and say hello

    So....HELLO

I am a little bit new to Atkins but not low carb. I was very intrigued by the studies that had been coming out last year on the benefits of low carb and decided to give it a try. However, the lack of structure of "low carb" and frankly, my own lack of willpower led me to break my good habits and regain a bit.

I only have about 10-15 pounds to lose and am finally very determined to do so. I have finally bought and read the Atkins book (bought an older copy) and do the diet to the letter. I think this was my downfall before....eating shakes and bars and chocolate, just as long as I was under a certain percentage of carbs for the day. Now I am going to eat vegetables and do it RIGHT, power of five and all

My plan for exercise (starting next week) is once a week slow burn method, lots of walking around my neighborhood, and perhaps and HIIT session once a week.

I'm on day 2 and have already lost 2 pounds.

About me: I am in my 20s, love non fiction books, travelling to different places (lived in Asia for 5 years), being a yenta with my friends, google reader (finance, econ, and science websites), thrift shops, walking, coffee shops, and indie rock. I live on South Beach with my wonderful husband, who is also trying low carb to cure his very severe acid reflux.

On a final note, I have been a lurker for a while and I am very surprised at the success ratio and accountability of this board. There's none like it!

Exercise: Stroll leisurely around Miami Beach 1-3 times a week, between 4-8 miles every time.
Heavy weights (for me) slow burn method (Body by Science).

Hi Carne! Welcome to ADBB. Tell your DH that Atkins cured my acid reflux so hopefully it will do the same fore him. Good for you for choosing to do this correctly, by killing that sweet tooth and eating your veggies. You also get a standing ovation for reading the book! I have kept about 65 pounds of for 5 years now, although I am still not making much progress on the next 65...But I always come back to Atkins because I feel better eating this way than with any other plan. If you have already lost 2 sounds like you will be ready to move to OWL right after Induction.

I am in Asia right now. Where did you live when you were here?

      Hi China...

Good to hear your acid reflux was cured. It is just awful...i had it for the first time after falling off the wagon...and ugh-never again! I hope the same can happen for hubby....

I lived 3 years in Seoul, Korea (my favorite), 4 months in Istanbul (working vacation), and almost 2 years in Singapore. I also got to do a lot of travelling around the region...my favorite being Phuket and Tokyo. Where are you in Asia?
