  • New to board- 5 weeks into Atkins

    Hello out there.

I'm 38 years old and started Atkins 5 weeks ago. I was healthy & fit until I reached 21 & met my husband. I began steadily gaining weight no matter how hard I tried to lose. The most I ever lost was 25lbs on a diet pill that caused me to become a complete rhymes with witch. Because of my weight, I missed both my 10 & 20yr high school reunions. I was ashamed of myself. My husband has always been loving & caring and has never been critical of my weight. I guess I'm critical enough for the both of us. Our daughter turned 4 this year & I got a good hard look at myself in some pictures. None were flattering. So since hubby had some weight to lose too, we decided to go on Atkins together. I cleaned out our entire pantry & the fridge and restocked with only Atkins friendly foods.

When we began, I weighed 258.6. My goal is to be between 140-150 by the time I turn 40. That gives me about 1 1/2 yrs to accomplish this.

It's been 5 weeks. So far, I've been following 100% and started walking on week 3. I'm greatful that I can still walk at a brisk pace & manage 1 mile every (week)day at lunch. I can do it in 18-20 minutes.

I am having a heck of a time losing though. I hope that this site will provide help, direction & encouragement from other women who have gone before me & met their goals.

    Peace!

Not enough water and not enough vegetables are the first things you could correct.

Hi Hippy, glad you found us and joined. If you are comparing your husbands loss to yours, DONT. Men just lose easier than we do. If you think its something else, you may want to post your menu on the board so the experts can look at it. Sometimes they see things you might not.
