  • Just started back on Atkins

    I just started back on Atkins 3 weeks ago and I have not lost what I did when on it before. I am very disappointed at this point. This is where I am--I try not to eat carbs actually it is below 15 and eat nothing but meat,eggs and some celery. I have started biking and working in the yard and I thought for sure that I would be losing faster than this. I have no cravings and no appetite . What can I do to get the scales moving. I am and have been in ketosis. I drink my water and crystal light. If anyone has an insight please let me know.

    For starters, you are not eating enough veggies. You need a variety of veggies, not just celery. Try posting a menu for us to take a look at--including quantities.

      And cut out the crystal light.

        Thanks Jill, actually I do eat other veggies but everyday I eat a stick of celery with cream cheese.
        My menu usually consists of breakfast 2 eggs sometimes 4 slices of bacon coffee w/ s&l
        lunch egg salad or a small 3 oz steak (or left over meat from night before) crystal light
        dinner pork chop with asparagus or a meat of some kind and a vegg but not corn
        snack celery with cream cheese.
        I drink at least 5 glasses of water really try to get the 8 in but I really do not like water so I drink crystal light.

          #1 ... it's not water.

          #2 ... the limit of sweeteners per day is 3 ... so that's 24 ounces of CL.

            I am sorry S & L is sweet and low
            The other veggies are asparagus, green beans, broccoli and salad. I try to stay away from corn as I heard it was high in sugar.
            I get it I will defiantly work on drinking nothing but water.

                I really can't understand the not liking water thing. I love it, it is all I drink ever.

                Have you tried to shot gun it? You can even try to drink it like you would shots of hard alcohol. I convinced a friend to do it that way and now she drinks 10-12 glasses a day.

                  Drinking enough water seems to be a key for many people to lose even though there is no real medical reason for it, but it does work. Sweeteners are known stallers for a fair number of people. Most of your carbs should come from vegetables. The ones you mentioned are fine but there are a number including carrots, corn, peas, winter squashes, etc. that are not allowed. Also carbs from onions and tomatoes add up fast.

                  Best advice is to get the 2002 DANDR and read it cover to cover. It saves you making costly mistakes.
