  • New to the Board!

    Hey everyone!

    I just came across this fantastic forum and thought I would say hello

    I'm 25 and I've been slightly overweight since I can remember. I tried dieting pills, weight watchers...but no success. So hopefully Atkins will work!

    1st day of Atkins today and it went well...I think!! Ate just bacon and eggs really!Bit worried I will get bored of this. Looking forward to getting some steak etc to eat!!

    Loved reading the success stories. I hope my induction goes well!! Any tips are greatly appreciated.

      Yeah I have the book! I had 2 cups of loose salad and some mushrooms as well...but when I'm hungry I eat scrambled eggs.I read the bacon packet as well to make sure there were no carbs and drink a lot of water!

        Did you read the list of ingredients?

        What's "a lot" of water exactly?

          I read the list of ingredients so I think*fingers crossed* it was okay.

          I've had 8 50cl bottles of Volvic water.

          The cups of salad were just green lettuce.

          I am so motivated and determined but looking at what I've ate-its all been dominated by eggs!I had scrambled eggs,an omlette,poached eggs.

          Its my first time ever trying this so I hope I'm doing everything correctly.I'm certainly trying my best

            Can you post them? Most bacon is cured with dextrose (sugar) ... so it wouldn't really be 0 carbs.

            Not really enough net carbs from vegetables ... even including the mushrooms.

            Are you counting your net carbs?

            I know this seems all overwhelming for the first day!

            There's a carb counter in the back of your book ... you might want to try keeping a journal so you know what you're eating and how many net carbs you're eating, too.

            You might want to expand your eating ... there's a lot of variety on the Induction food list.

            Is that a minimum of 64 ounces?

              Thanks for all your comments.I need to sit tomorrow and try and plan some meals.I hate fish with a passion, can't stomach it at all so thatis definitely out for me!

              I was that focused today on eating as little carbs as possible,I've lived off eggs.I need to sort that out.

              Just converted my cl to oz...I've drank too much water!No wonder I'm peeing all the time!!

                There is no "too much water" ... 64 ounces is the MINIMUM ... not the maximum.

                Eating as few carbs as possible isn't the aim of Atkins.

                  Keep up with your water, I would drink 120 oz a day.

                  You can have 4 oz cheese a day.

                  You can add meat to your salad. Chicken is great.
                  Steak and eggs for breakfast is awesome.

                  EAT YOUR VEGGIES. That will be very crucial to your success. I eat tomato and avocado slices with my eggs.

                  www.genaw.com/lowcarb has great recipes. I have enjoyed everything I made from her site.

                  Lastly, if you do not stay at home all day you will need to plan your meals. I spend an hour everyday planning and preparing the night before. If not you may be stuck and make wrong choices.
