  • Greetings!

    Hello everyone,

I'm a new convert to Atkin's and am in the second week of induction. So far I'm thrilled -- after the awful first few days, I've felt great and have no cravings for the first time in my adult life. That's really saying something!

I gained a great deal of weight while on medication, then more while pregnant with my daughter, then even more when I learned that she had a serious disability and ate in response to depression. Last year I finally realized that if I was going to be a good mother to her, I needed to get healthy myself.

I lost about 40 pounds on Weight Watchers but was losing my mind in the process. I hated counting points and was increasingly spending my points on junk like 2-point snack packs and 3-point "diet" ice cream. I came to the conclusion that even if I was still slowly losing weight, I wasn't doing anything good for my (physical or mental) health.

I love the whole-foods approach and am delighted that I get to eat meat, eggs, butter, and most of the vegetables that I love. I can't believe I didn't try this sooner. I feel better than I have in years.

Thanks to those of you who have already helped me with some of the confusion aspects of induction. I'm excited about both the plan and this board.
