  • New gal here

Hi all I am new and I am 28 years old. I weigh in at 320 lbs as of right now. I am going to be starting my new way of life in about a week. I have already switched a few things like my sodas. I went from regular diet drinks to Diet Rite drinks. I got divorced about a year ago from a very bad marriage of 9 years. I gained alot of weight from him telling me I was fat all the time, but funny thing is he was bigger than me lol. Anyways I found a wonderful guy and he treats me like a queen. He is smaller than me and I never thought I could be with a smaller man. I am still insecure about my body in front of him, but I know he loves me. I finally feel like I can do this and lose weight for myself. I also want children and haven't had any yet. I also have PCOS and I have been told by friends if I lose like as little as 5% of my body weight I will increase my chances of fertility. I know its not going to be easy, but I finally have someone who isn't calling me names and who believes in me enough and won't always say you can't lose weight.

                      >>im not reading the book I actually cant afford it>>

                      Try the library.

And you can often find them a used book stores or thrift shops.

                        Re: New gal here

For the book, definitely try a Goodwill or similar thrift store, or a used bookstore. I got the book and a pocket carb gram counter at my local used bookstore for pennies on the dollar, literally! There's also eBay, Amazon, and maybe even Craigslist?

I can't stress enough how important it is to read the book and really understand it...it's definitely been a big part of my success so far. My copy is underlined, dog-eared, and ragged...I turn to it almost every day I didn't read the book the first time I "did Atkins" and ended up gaining back most of what I lost. I wasn't getting my nutrients, veggies, water...I lost weight, but not the right way. Doing this properly, as it was written by Dr. Atkins, will provide you with a healthy and balanced diet and lifestyle, PLUS the fabulous weight loss benefits. The book teaches you not only how to lose, but to do it for LIFE!

Until you get a copy, there are plenty of "stickies" here to read, and people who are glad to answer your questions...

                        Stephanie
I will ONLY weigh once per week! I will refer to DANDR 2002 and this forum when I have questions. I will revel in new recipes, new clothes, and the new feeling of being happy in my skin. I will hold myself accountable to do this the right way, without excuses, because I know that Atkins is the best thing for my health and happiness. I. Will. Succeed!

I think it's great you are trying this! I had a similar situation with my ex-husband (calling me fat, etc.), and began dropping weight as soon as the relationship was over. I think I was doing a lot of stress-eating, and have begun feeling better about myself and more motivated to lose weight without someone putting me down all the time! Keep it up!
