  • Hello!!!! Day two is almost complete!!

Hi everyone!! As i said first time doing the diet and I am staying strong!!! Not sure when I'll start seeing the weight drop while on induction but I'll be keepin you posted! Currently 221, goal weight is 190. I'm going to run induction for atleast 3-4 weeks. I love hitting the gym but can't drop the weight just keep building muscle which is good but I would really love to cut BF. So far the hardest thing is no alcohol lol but I know at the end it will be worth it!

    Welcome to ADBB!

    >>I'm going to run induction for atleast 3-4 weeks>>

That's probably not a good idea since you don't have so much to lose.

Are you reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

        Elaborate on what?

Induction is about getting your body ready to lose weight ... it's not where you do your losing.

No I haven't picked up the book yet. I have done some research here and on a few other places. I see others are running an extended induction also so I said why not??

For the simple reason, it's not really appropriate for how much weight you want to lose.

Of course, doing Atkins without the book isn't a good idea either.

Re: Hello!!!! Day two is almost complete!!

By the time you reach your goal weight, you should have progressed through all the phases of the plan.

The last 5-10 lbs are supposed to be lost in Pre-Maintenance.

You have 31 lbs to lose... and by the end of Induction, you'll probably have less than 30... which leaves you with less than 20-25 lbs to lose in OWL.

In OWL, you will be adding back nutritious carbohydrate foods that are not permitted during Induction, such as almonds, macadamia nuts, strawberries, cottage cheese, chickpeas (hummus), apples, etc. You will be eating a new food only three times a week and you'll have to see how each of the foods you add back affects your weight loss and your blood sugar (there's a list of blood sugar instability symptoms in the book). This whole process takes A LOT of time, if you want to do it properly... and you need to do it properly if you want to not only lose weight, but maintain your weight once at goal.

If you order the book from amazon.de, it takes about 10 days to get it.

In the meantime, check out the Induction FAQs here:

and reading through the OWL stickies would not be a bad idea either:
