  • On my own (newbie thread)

hello I have been doing low carb now for about 1 month and 15 days...so far I have lost 10lbs.. I think I am at a plateau but I am not sure. I weigh 280 but would like to slowly and I mean slowly get down to 150-200lbs.

A friend of mine has been doing this diet now for over a year and she has lost 150lbs... she is very strict on herself I admire her a lot for it.

I know I have the go get it attitude to do it but I am a little lost because her diet includes A LOT of fruit..

My meals include dining out a lot so I do the no bun or ketchup rule... my life is so fast paced it's almost impossible not to dine out however its also A LOT of salads as well... I guess I need to read the book I have had trouble with eating my entire life. I just have the go get attitude but likes to eat?

I have the indulge bars as well as caffeine free diet pop in place... I have been caffeine free for about a year now.

Here is a little background history about me... any ideas?

    Welcome to ADBB!

Dr. Atkins defined a plateau/stall as four consecutive weeks with no weight loss or loss of inches... so you're probably not stalled... are you?

Any plans of moving to OWL?

guess I need to read the book
    Yes.

While it's fantastic that your friend lost 150 lbs, you should read the book so that you can make informed decisions for yourself instead of going (only) by what your friend says or by what you read online. The book we follow at ADBB is Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution (2002).

    I have the indulge bars
They are not permitted on Induction.

Besides, eating real food instead of products would be a wiser choice.

as well as caffeine free diet pop in place
    Why do you want pop?

    any ideas?
Get the book and read it.

In the meantime, it might be good to read through the FAQs here:

      >> have the indulge bars>>

These are not allowed on Induction. I believe it even says so on the package.

welcome to ADBB and to Atkins. Good to see your friend is working her atkins and moving up the phases. Is she in maintnenace or premaintenace now?
You will discover when you read DANDR 2002 that induction eating is only one part of the whole plan and in OWL we do get to add back fruits in a controlled manner if our body can handle them.

Maybe she's not doing Atkins by the book ... but a version of own own making?
