  • Getting back on the horse!

    Hello all!
I have been one of those "emotional eaters" that since my 30's have been successful on any and all food programs and then I let life's challenges bring me back to food and then I'd get things in order and loose weight. It doesn't work that way anymore! At 52 everything has slowed down. The Atkins program makes sense and has been so easy to stay on in the past. I'm ready to make this the last weight loss program and continue it as a maintenance for life. I stumbled on to this website and I think with support out there from others on the same journey it will be a better ride. I have had one constant problem with the Atkins program and want to know if there's help. Within two weeks I experience SEVERE leg and foot cramps! When I go off the program, they go away..........HELP! Well, this is some of my story...excited to get started.

    Welcome to ADBB!

Are you reading the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution?

Within two weeks I experience SEVERE leg and foot cramps!
During Induction, were you eating close to 20 net carbs, with over half of them coming from Induction vegetables?

Were you taking a multivitamin without iron?

How much water were you drinking?

An additional mineral supplement with calcium, magnesium and/or potassium might help... but personally, I wouldn't take one unless advised to do so by my physician.

During Induction, a good source of potassium is avocado... limited to 1/2 a small one per day.
