  • New to atkins and I am excited

I am so glad that I called the number on the tv about the free atkins kit, I had the book for about a year now, found it a a thrift store and I was kinda confused about the whole atkins way of eating and the net carbs and the thought of no bread or pasta but since reading all the post and going to the atkins website and reading the book I am now ready to get this thing started! today is my first day although I have been cutting carbs slowly the past two weeks so that I could prepare for induction I really don't miss the white stuff much and I find myself excited about getting results! This forum will be a huge help to me the only thing that I may really miss is my glass of wine but oh well the things we do for beauty,

Congratulations on starting your diet. It's a very easy diet if you're a meat eater. Snacks of salami. beef jerkey, cheese, sausage will keep you going. Drink lot's of water (64 oz)

      Best wishes!

        >>salami. beef jerkey,>>

Both are very processed and the beef jerky most likely has too more sugar in it than is good. I would limit the salami and probably skip the jerky altogether unless you make your own.

Atkins is really about the vegetables, not the meat.

So it is the version before 2002 then. If it is lacking the year 2002. I wish they would have named them different things because it is always so confusing with the versions.
So we use 2002 on ADBB. It is easy to find used copies of it.

I'm using Gallo Italian Dry Salami, 32 oz round. I cut my own slices. The label on it states: carbs 1g,dietary fiber 0g,Sugars 0g, Protein 6g.

Try and fine the Gallo one, its about 15-16 inches long wrapped in a red/white/green wrapper. I got mine at a Smart N Final store. Sometimes Von's carries it. It is NOT the packaged salami that you put on sandwiches, that has lots of sugar in it.

Royas - sounds pretty good. I like salami but we better not overdo it. It does have dextrose on the label and that is sugar. So stick to clean meats as much as you can

I've never exercised with Atkins back in 2003 when I lost 65 pounds or now. I guess simple walking, threadmill, bike, could help. I just stay away from carbs, usually down to 5-10 a day. I'm not even close to 20 carbs per day.

I know in the book it states exercise, but I'm not an exercise person.

Dr. Atkins wrote that if we are not exercising, we are not following his plan.

Is this what you do now, during Induction, or is this what you did last time?

And are those net carbs you're talking about?

Eating closer to 20 net carbs, with over half of them from vegetables, will provide you with better nutrition than eating 5 net carbs a day. Health is important, too, not just weight loss.

I know in the book it states exercise, but I'm not an exercise person.
