:wave Hi all. I'm so glad to find a sight where I can communicate with other people who are dealing with the same battles as I am. I'll try to keep this short and sweet. Two years ago, I went to a doctor with my weight problem. He gave me a questionnaire to fill out...that was new to me. Anyway, after going over my answers, he explained to me that I was probably addicted to carbs and suffering from hyperinsulinemia and gave me the book, The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet, to read. He told me that his own daughter had this same problem and a low-carb diet solved her weight and health issues. He also told me that if I continued to eat the way I had been, I would be a type II diabetic within 2-3yrs. I have a family history of that illness so, he got my attention...for a while. I tried the diet in the book, but not really seriously and finally just quit trying all together. A few weeks ago, I started experiencing major mood swings and would start crying uncontrollably. I really thought I was going crazy. Then, I remembered something I had read in the Atkins diet book about this kind of thing, and decided to read the book again. I couldn't put it down. It's like Dr. Atkins was talking about me! I then realized that my problems were due to my body's reaction to the carbs I was eating and decided it was time to do something for good. So, I started the induction phase of the diet on Monday, April 11th. I am thrilled to say that I have lost 9lbs. and love that I dont' have near the number of carb cravings that I once had !:icondance I really want and need to make this a lifetime way of eating and hope to get the support I need from all of you. Well, okay, not exactly short and sweet...sorry. Thanks for reading. I look forward to getting to know you all. God Bless :angelanim
