          Re: College Kid Starting Atkins

Hey, Devon! Welcome to the forums. I'm 21 and currently taking my masters in social work. Atkins in college can be tough, but it will work if you make the time for it. At my university there are vending machines every 3 feet and not a thing in them that I can eat, and the cafeteria is mostly just pizza, subs, and other off-limits foods.

When I schedule my classes, I like to give myself extra time for lunch so that I can drive to a nearby restaurant if I'm really hungry and have enough time to get back and find a parking space on campus. I also pack my lunch a lot. My favorite thing to do is to just put 2 scoops of zero-carb protein powder in an empty water bottle and just keep it in my bag. If I get hungry, I fill it with water, shake it up, and sip on it through class. Protein gives your body energy and keeps you feeling full.

The good thing about atkins is that most people (including me) aren't as hungry during the day when eating low-carb foods as they previously were eating low-fat/low-calorie/high-carb foods, so you may not even need to eat between classes unless your days are really long.

          Good luck!
