  • New to BB, not to Atkins

Howdy from Connecticut! I started induction on 1/29/10, and am down 36 pounds since then, and lovin' the Atkins WOL. My motivators are my niece's wedding in August, the swim portion of a triathlon in September, and my 30th High School reunion in October...one, two, three!

Wow those are solid motivations right there. That reunion - shudder

Good job losing. Sounds like it is going very well. Join in and share.

Wow! You look mahvelous! I'm finding Atkins is almost second nature now, and my entire family is eating better. Son is down 20 pounds (he is 14, and weighed 168 at 5'4", now weighs 14 and hubby down 7 despite his insistence on drinking Mountain Dew.

How do you insert photos into your post like that?

You need to upload them somewhere before you try to add them. I use photobucket but you can also upload them here
Look in User Control Panel - under pictures and albums and upload them there. Then you can link them into your post by using their address. I can guide you through that part once you have uploaded them

That's a before, during and current photos

So I'm using the "insert image" icon above, directing it to the specific photo, but it shows up as a broken link.

Since your son is under 18, he shouldn't be doing any of the weight loss phases of Atkins without the supervision of his pediatrician.

Son is NOT "doing" Atkins; son is benefiting from my no longer purchasing soda, sugared cereals and junk food! No more white bread - we now use whole grain wraps & multi-grain bread. No more fruit juices other than 100% OJ. No more items with high fructose corn syrup.

Son is also benefiting from my renewed interest in cooking healthy foods.

Does shutterby support hotlinking? That is when you show pictures uploaded there on another side - which is what you are trying to do. I don't think they do

Photobucket which I use allow hotlinking

Pictures are looking good. Nice progress!!!

Thanks, Liv, but the credit should go to a diet that's so easy to live with.

Oh, the hunger of Weight Watchers! The cravings of the Curves diet! The binges of Carb Addicts! Gone now, all gone...

You tried Carb Addicts. I have always wondered if that worked for anyones. So you are saying you used your one hour window not so wisely? I assume that is the danger of that thing.

Re: New to BB, not to Atkins

It works for a while, but I found myself setting up my desserts at breakfast time, for that one-hour dinner window. LOL I don't think ANY diet could work very well with that hunk of chocolate cake waiting in the fridge, or the pint of Ben & Jerry's "Chunky Monkey".

Now that I understand the workings of metabolism better, I realize that every evening I was taking myself bang out of ketosis by virtue of the carbs I was consuming. My system didn't get a good chance to burn the fat and nothing but the fat, with the carb flooding going on.

My sister-in-law lost 90 pounds on it, but hasn't lost anything further in 18 months, despite sticking to it. So I bought her the new Atkins book!

                          Wonder why it stops working/

You should post your pictures in the Picture forum. Lot of people would be inspired with your progress
