  • Re-starting Atkins 11 years later

Good morning everyone. I'm April...and I am a carb addict. 11 years ago, when I was just 22, I first started eating on this program. I lost 50lbs; through the years I started eating awful again...pretty much whatever I wanted. Well, I've tried a lot of other programs since then (Slim4Life, Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers), but I never felt as great as I did when I was eating on this plan. So, here I am, 33 years old and restarting.

What prompted this was I noticed I was having A LOT of fatigue. Going to bed at 9pm, and sleeping in until 10 or 11am. No energy to walk my dog or go out with friends. And then I started going pale in the face and feeling worn out. I have NEVER gained weight in my stomache before, always in my butt an thighs, and suddenly I have a paunch. I am a busy hairstylist and suddenly I had swollen feet and legs. I went for some blood work and I was pre-diabetic! My father was diabetic and it eventually killed him. Surprisingly, my Doc suggested Atkins! It's only been 3 DAYS, and already I feel better. I get up at a reasonable hour, and I don't feel so exhausted. I can work a full day without looking drawn in by the end of it. I'm so happy to be back to this way of eating/life that I can hardly contain myself.

I've had a few cravings since I started, but was able to curb them using some the tricks i've read here.

Wanted to intro myself and say hello I'm back!

Yeah, I'm a bit of a purist, and I have read it. It's dog-earred and bookmarked. It's my eating bible.
