  • Ok....4 days in and I NEED HELP!

    Just need some encouragement..mainly venting I lost 70lbs about 6 years ago on a low carb/watching portion do it yourself diet..my husband and I have both gained weight since getting married (happiness is a reason to eat carbs...lol) so we have decided to do the Atkins diet. What I need encouragement with is right now any ideas on my need for fruit?? Seems to be my downfall right now (I can say no to the Easter Candy and Tootsie Rolls but not the fruit). Ok very random I know but I think you guys understand my issue

    How are things going so far? So your cravings are fruit? At least you won't have to wait forever to add small quantities of fruit to your WOE (way of eating). Sometimes keeping a food log, or planning what you will eat for the day, and in what quantities, will help you to overcome cravings. Knowing that you will eat a certain thing, at a certain time will help to train yourself that you will only eat what you've planned to eat, and you won't plan to eat something that you're not supposed to have.

      Welcome both of you.
      Well there is no secret to success. If there was I would bottle it.
      We all have to take one day of the time and just do it. Dr Atkins wrote in DANDR that he believes "that the best way to overcome temptation is not with willpower, which is so often in short supply, but with our brain power, a potentially unlimited resource." So you just have to remind yourself why you are not eating foods loaded with sugars right now. And you know why. Right?

      PS Have you tried rhubarb? or avocado? Peppers are fruits (botanically speaking) and they are allowed too.

        Go to OWL asap (after 14-day induction). You can add berries & melons on Rung 4.

        Also, ask yourself why you can't give up fruit...what is it about fruit? The sweetness combined with it beaing 'healthy'? Something else? Perhaps this is a problem food for you?

          Thanks guys...just needed to hear some encouragement and that there is light at the end of the tunnel...so to speak

          It is frustrating to see my husband enter Ketosis and lose weight so quickly while I am struggling with my need for fruit...lol!! Oh well we are all built different and I shall get past the induction and have some fruit once again! SOOO EXCITED THOUGH BECAUSE MY DH has lost 9lbs...yea!!! Can't wait to test his blood pressure in a couple of weeks!

            My DH is losing a lot faster than I am too. Those darn guys LOL

            He's about at his 50lb mark.
