  • Hello from the BIG state of TEXAS!!!

Well.. I tried to get on here for the past two days but it wouldn't let me!! It said I was "BLACK LISTED"???? But finally today it let me!! I have been going crazy wanting to ask questions but I guess not being able to register was ok because I spent the past 2 day's reading up on everything on this site and got most of my questions answered!
I live about 45 minutes North of Houston.
I am a mother to 3 beautiful girls. 2 here on earth (Ryan 17 & Mikayla 14) and 1 in Heaven. (Meagan would have been 21, she was killed by an intoxicated driver). I am a step momma to 5. My husband got emergency custody of his 5 kids in December, so now I have 7 here at home full time, to say my life is hectic and crazy is an understatement!!
I had WLS (weight loss surgery) in April of 2001. My starting weight was 275 and I lost down to 168 (only for a few weeks! LOL!) then stayed at around 175-180 for about 6 years, I had a hysterectomy in 2006 and in 2007 I lost my daughter and have slowly gained my way back up to 221 pounds. I have contributed my weight gain to the hysterectomy....then to the loss of my child (emotional eating)........but I know what is really the cause... With my weight loss surgery I am supposed to eat more protein and veggie's.. I'm supposed to stay away from sugars & carbs, but over the past few years I have started eating what we call "Slider Foods"...chips, crackers, potatoes (my most favorite food...doesn't matter how you cook them I love them!) ice cream & cereal. If I eat protein...meat & vegi's it stays in my lil stomach... I feel full...but when I eat all of those slider foods they go right on through.
I have a 17 year old daughter (almost 1 that is about 100 pounds over weight. I DO NOT WANT HER TO HAVE WLS. I want her to learn how to eat right. She is the same way I am with the "Slider" foods but she hasn't had the surgery... She hates the way she looks and feels and I hate the fact that I'm the reason why. I cooked the food she ate growing up. I could only eat a little bit so I didn't worry about what type of food it was...if they wanted pizza loaded with cheese and pepperoni I got it, if they wanted fast food I bought it for them (I didn't have to worry I couldn't even eat half of a small cheese burger)....so by not watching what I ate even in small quantities....I didn't watch what they ate either. To make matters worse my 14 year old is a normal size..so that is upsetting to my 17 year old too. Since the kids have moved in with us full time I have also found myself cooking easier foods...and I eat right along with them... My husband has about 20-25 pounds to lose..just a little "Pot Belly"...
Enough of all this jabbering... My husband, my daughter and I all started the Adkins way of eating today...So far so good....I'm praying to GOD that this will work for us and this will be something that we can continue to do for the rest of my life.. I want to feel good about myself again. But most of all I want my daughter to feel good about herself. She is beautiful and I want her to feel beautiful. I want to watch her run in the yard without huffing and puffing, I want her to pick out her prom dress and not have to worry if they have her size. I want her to grow up and raise my grandchildren who are healthy and happy because their mom knows how to eat right. (Just so you know, I have taken her to the doctor, she has hypothyroid like myself but is otherwise healthy...low fat they say...LOW FAT!!! Been there...did it...got bigger because of it!)
    So here we are......
