  • A big hello - Newbie here!

Hi everyone, hope you are all well!

Today is my 2nd Day of the Atkins Induction. I'm 24 years of age, and since being married to my (skinnier ) other half, I have gained a lot of weight, and am now the heaviest I have ever been (15st 7lbs). My overall target/dream would be to get down to 12 stone.

I'm not 100% sure I'm doing the diet "correctly", as there are a lot of food groups and food add-ons that I don't know the Carbs count for. However, I am constantly Googling the answer and plan on buying a book to help me do the best I can.

I was wondering if anyone else has some personal experiences they would like to share about their 14 day induction: success stories, good tips, recipe suggestions, or how you felt during your induction/things to be aware of.

For me, I am only on day 2 and already suffering from a mild headache, which I put down to going cold turkey and cutting out caffeine/coffee. Although, I also felt quite queasy this morning ... and couldn't face eating another egg! I found sipping water helped stop the queasiness.

My only worry, is that through lack of variety I will not stick to the diet, so please help in anyway you can :

    Today's Menu:

BREAKFAST: 2 boiled eggs champed in margarine (found out butter is best!)

LUNCH: 3 x Applewood cheese, raw spinach, cold meat ham roll overs

DINNER: 1 chicken breast roasted in vegetable oil, full fat mayonaise & 3 broccoli florets

I don't think I had my full 20 grams of carbs, did I/do you need to?

Does anyone have any quick and easy recipes they make for lunch to take to work?

I look forward to chatting more and sharing my up and down moments with you all.

    Peace & love

    Lx

Welcome!! You will love the atkins! Use olive oil rather than veg oil.......read dandr 2002 all the time so it sticks in your head...it really helps!
The weird headache and fogginess feeling goes after 3-5 days........hang in there! Then you should feel alive again!

Omlettes, prawns, chicken wings, boiled eggs, stir fry veg and meat, fish, romaine lettuce and soft cheese wraps, steak, mushroom and blue cheese, pork and veg, tuna and mayo wraps with romaine lettuce,.........I love jalapeono peppers to add some spice to things! Could go on all night!! good luck and enjoy

Thanks Thin4Summer, I jalapeno's as-well, think I'll be purchasing a few jars tomorrow. Fantastic idea to add some spice to things.

Am I worrying too much about my daily Carb count?

I.e: If more than 20 Carbs are eaten in one day would it ruin all your efforts, or is it just the average to go by?

Your positivity gives me great hope.

Re: A big hello - Newbie here!

I love jalapenos too..they really bring flavour to my meals and kill off any sweet cravings!!! I don't count my net carbs, I go on what I think, which probably isn't the proper way but was my choice not to get too obsessed with it! If you want to check out your total net carbs use Fitday website....its really good and you can see exactly what your daily carbs, protein, fats are.You can adjust your net carbs as you climb the atkins ladder.....more foods etc are added and you can see what your body can tolerate.......exciting really! Good luck this board is great for every question and tips! It really helps knowing there are other people doing the same thing! my biggest tip is don't get bored! keep looking up new recipes and food choices!
