  • Deseperate Newbie- Day 1 Tomorrow!!

Hi Everyone!! Thanks for stopping by to read (first off). Secondly, I am so thankful to have found this site. The last wk I have had a really hard time, losing faith in WW, which I thought was a perfect way to find "Balance"...not so much. Hard when I like my protein and protein costs alot of pts (7 for salmon, plain??) ummm,.....ok I only get 20 Pts!

I wrote alot while setting up my profile; I used to compete in Fitness, I'm so familiar and accustomed to working out/eating right, etc, but after a rough couple yrs I got stuck at 150, slowly over a yr lost 10lbs and am STUCK in the low 140's - O and Miserable!!!

I am not seeking a quick change, but something I can make as a lifestyle that works for me! I'm moody, uncomfortable @ 140 and 5'5'' just feel chubby....

The last several days I have played with Atkins and slowly getting use to things...
Caffeine is hard for me- I reallllly LOVE IT!!! AND my SF Creamer and splendas!!! lol....

Heres an example of what I have eaten today....

6 egg whites (i dont like the yolks)
    6 pc of Bacon

grilled chicken breast- no heavy seasoning (lil Lowrys')
and 1 cup mix of Summer Squash/Zucchini

Lots of Ice Tea (altho not decaf & Coffee with a touch of creamer n 3 splenda total)

    ......

    Couple Questions?
Crystal Lite, is that acceptable or NO?
    heavy whipping cream? on Induction?

ANY TIPS TRICKS, PERSONAL SUGGESTIONS OR WHATEVER PLSSS PLSSS I WOULD SO GREATLY APPRECIATE!!!

    THANKS AGAIN FOR READING!!!!

    ~Lindsay

Re: Deseperate Newbie- Day 1 Tomorrow!!

    First off - welcome!

Re: What you ate today - your body needs proper hydration, too - drink a minimum of 64oz of plain water each day and your body will thank you! Other than that, are you planning to eat more Induction-friendly veggies today? You should - they're good for you (and were zero points in WW, I believe). Atkins Induction calls for 3 cups each day - *AND* those 3 cups need to provide most of your net carbs each day. What is your net carb count with that menu?

Re: Crystal Light - consumption of aspartame is discouraged

Re: Heavy whipping cream - that's fine in Induction, just mind the 3T limit

    Tips:

If you don't have a copy of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution 2002, you can get one cheap at half.com. That's the book we use here, and an invaluable resource during your journey to better health.

        THANK YOU!!

I was planning on more vegs like Broc (olive oil/garlic) for dinner and Salmon??

I usually eat more vegs, guess I fig I was trying to limit them in the am, bc I think of 3 c total (leafy greens or veg) to be not alot. I could eat 2 cups at a sitting! LOL...

Yes, my water intakes been a lil off today, I usually drink 1 gal of water a day...plus other stuff...

Ok this is great thank you!!

Re: Deseperate Newbie- Day 1 Tomorrow!!

Oh no! I didn't mean that!

Actually, I look quite nice at this weight (kinda like voluptuous, like the actresses of the 30s, 40s), but I don't like the idea of growing and growing, and at my age, I need to be careful because I'm gaining 10lbs per year. I figured if I dropped the 30 lbs I need to and maintained around there, I would be heading off at the pass any future health issues. I'm 42, so menopause is around the corner, which makes losing weight even more difficult, so I figured I'd make the lifestyle change now.

I hope I didn't rattle you or anything--that's not my style--I was just playing around with ya!

Yes, definitely more vegetables! If you wish to be very strict about the 3-cup limit, I posted in my blog ways to get more than half of your Induction carbs from 3 cups of veggies. (I have also posted in my journal how to fit over a pound of many different veggies into a day's food intake without going over 20g net carb. But shhhh, don't tell anyone about it; some people are offended by such blatant disregard for the 3-cup limit.) Good to know about your typical water intake, too - keep it up!

Looks great, and it's good that you added fats back in where you removed the yolks from the eggs. The only thing is that you have no salad, and I think the diet says 2 cups? I'd add that in at dinner since you had your broccoli already, but that's about it!

                        >>he diet says 2 cups?>>

It's 2 cups from the first list of vegetables. It doesn't have to be lettuce, or "salad".

As far as crystal light - besides being made with aspartame it's also full of chemicals -- Atkins is about whole foods, so it's best to only have 1 glass if you absolutely have to....pure water is best - and make sure you don't have less than 64 ounces daily. I see you are drinking more than that but you don't qualify it as being pure water and since you say you drink tea, coffee & crystal light I didn't know if you were totaling that in your total.

Make sure you eat enough food - get enough fat in your daily meals - you'll do fine!

It's too bad that you're removing the yolks from your eggs they are actually very good for you and contain most of the nutrients and fats in an egg. Maybe you could leave two yolks in and make a cheese omlette. You might not taste them then.
