Hello all!
My name is Sarie. Although I've always been a big fan of Atkins, it took me quite some time to actually decide I was going to stick to it! My blood sugar was actually the last straw.. along with my mood swings/jitters/fatigue. I wanted to feel AND look better! Also I got up to 184lbs (I'm only 5'4") in August of 09'.. When I was only 150 last April.. 34lbs in 4 months, EEEK! And my problem.. since I was freshly 21 was..... ALCOHOL! :\ I would go out about 4 nights a week with my best friend, and our tolerance got higher as the days went by. Needless to say I was consuming a LOT of sugar and empty calories, and then having drunken cravings past midnight.
I started at 60g the day after Valentine's day, and was losing a pound or two a week if that. For some reason I was traumatized from a previous experience with induction, but only because I wasn't well educated! So I did some research, made a grocery list, and developed food options that would work for me and prove sufficient for induction.
I started back at induction on April 1st, the day after my 22nd birthday (had to get my last tastes of icecream & cake!) at 175. Today I weigh 167, so I have lost 8lbs in 11 days. I feel TERRIFIC. My cravings are nearly nonexistent and I am SO much more pleasant to be around lately.. haha. Also my blood sugar is normal again at around 80.
I have been spreading word about Atkins like wildfire to all of my curious friends.. and many have decided to join along! I look forward to participating actively in this forum along my journey.
