  • Will need a ton of advice......

Hello! I am on day 9 of induction - doing great so far. Down 6 pounds. I started my weight loss journey unintentionally in January. After years of hearing I have fibromyalgia, I discovered I have celiac. Soooo, afraid to eat anything but meat, vegetables and fruit, I found myself losing weight. I decided to start Atkins to get to my goal weight. After taking a look at my self after my shower this morning, I decided I am starting to look kind of like a shar pei (is that the dog with all the wrinkles?). I am joining a gym this afternoon. My only exercise lately is running to the bathroom due to all the water I am drinking.

I am only getting about 7 to 10 grams of carbs per day. My work schedule is very unpredicable, so in the past I relied heavily (no pun intended) on fast food for lunch and dinner (sometimes I don't get home until 10pm or later). Now I rely on my George Forman grill (one of the greatest inventions ever!). I can throw on a frozen chicken breast and some vegetables and have dinner in 10 minutes. Typical daily fare:
Breakfast: one egg omelett with spinich, cheese and mushrooms cooked in 1 tb butter,
Lunch: tuna salad (mayo, mustard, green onion) on romaine and
Dinner: grilled chicken breast, a tb of salsa, asparagus, 1tb butter. Once in a while I will have string cheese for a snack, but seldom hungry (ain't this grand?)
    Calories between 800 - 1200 per day.
I drink about 100oz of water per day (hence the running...). My ketostix have been running in dark purple (not the dark dark purple). Am I doing this right? Any suggestions??

    Welcome to ADBB
Glad that you are feeling good. I loved seeing the veggies on your menu. But you really want to eat a tad more.

So your calories are a bit low. Usually keeping calories that low works against us on Atkins. We try to eat to our needs (like our BMR and a bit)
Certainly if you start to exercise more make sure you up your fat and protein too.

      Welcome to ADBB!

      >> I am only getting about 7 to 10 grams of carbs per day.>>

Wow, that's low. Induction is really 20 net carbs (carbs minus fiber). Eating this low isn't healthy.

      >>Am I doing this right?>>

In my opinion, no. You're not eating enough net carbs and you're not eating enough calories.

Water is good though! Now just eat some food with that water!!!

Thank you for the pointers. Words I thought I would never hear directed at me - you need to eat more! It has been busier than usual on my job, and I just haven't thought about snacking. I will do better. Just came back from my first gym visit. Feel less droopy already...
