  • Never say never again!

Hi everyone! I'm a retired holistic veterinarian in Denver. This about my zillionth time on Atkins...first time I did great, lost 60 pounds in a year. But a hospital stay kicked me out of ketosis, and though I've tried many times, I've never made it through induction again. Naturally, I gained 40 pounds of that weight back, though I am at least a teeny bit proud that I didn't do worse!

About a year and a half ago, I quit eating wheat and corn, since I'm allergic to them (I knew that for years, but didn't care, and wasn't sick enough to give up my Fritos!). Last summer, a friend and I made an exercise pact, and we have been really good about it. Now I walk, do Curves, or go to the gym 3-5 days a week. I lost a little more weight, and I'm definitely thinner, but it seems like I've been adding and subtracting the same 5-6 pounds for months.

So I started induction 6 days ago, and have lost about 10 pounds. But I realize that I need support...so here I am!

    Re: Never say never again!

I said I'd "never" diet again - about 10 years ago. And I am glad that I stopped yo-yo dieting then. I waited until I was really ready! Congrats on your exercise routine, if you can dedicate yourself to that for so long, and give up your fritos (mine was ice-cream) you can certainly do this Once the weight starts coming off, you won't want to quit...so just hang in there...I did & it is the best thing I have ever done for myself!
