  • Hello. I'm new.

Hi. I've been coming to this board for awhile now so I guess it's time to stop lurking. I started atkins last month and stayed on it for three weeks. I'd lost about eleven pounds and decided that I needed to buy the book. While waiting for the book to arrive in the mail I went off of Atkins and gained about three to four pounds back in one week. I have to say that while off atkins, I only ate carbs just to eat them. I had zero cravings for them and hated how heavy my body felt after eating them. I still ate them anyways though.

Today is my fifth day of being back on induction since reading the book. This time around, the weight is coming off so much faster than the last time. I haven't weighed myself yet today, but yesterday on day four I had already lost five pounds.

Also, taste testing while cooking. Ugh! Luckily I've been able to stop myself but it made me realize what terrible habits I have. It's made me wonder if anyone else is struggling with their old habits as well?

LOL Welcome to the board. I just wanted to comment on your finger lickin
I am 9 days in and made hamburgers for dinner tonight (mine no bun of course) But my son wanted ketchup and I closed the lid and got some on my finger... Normally I would lick it off... But not today... I stopped myself... thinking What the Heck am I doing ???

LOL! Thankfully I am not the only one this happens too. Also, thanks for the welcome. It's funny cuz I was actually looking at your profile earlier and your pictures inspired me to finally write an introduction post. I noticed that we are the same height, with almost the same weight and goals in mind. Good luck on the Atkins plan!

            Hi Ladies,

              Re: Hello. I'm new.

I did the same finger-licking thing yesterday!! My hubby had bday cake from work which I told him to go ahead and bring home. My kids each got a very slim slice as a treat for dessert (sugar snacks/treats are a rarity in my house) and to celebrate with him last night. As I was cutting their pieces, I accidentally got a little smudge of frosting on my finger. TOTALLY out of habit, finger went straight to mouth -- I caught myself right as it hit my tongue so I barely got any. WHEW - old habits die hard huh? Of course from that moment on, I have been more careful but looks like we're all in the finger lickin OOPS boat!

Hi and welcome, well my hubby is in the army and Im stuck in a place no family and friends and my kids to drive me crazy and that is how my journey of getting overweight began, when Im home with the kids I try to stay busy and especially with my school work but sometimes its hard and I let junk food become my bestfriend not to mention hubby can eat anything he wants and not gain weight, if he quits soda the weight drops off over night, but anyway its hard but getting back on track for me has to be done, one for my kids, I dont want to go out side as much because of my big behind and two for me I hate going to the store and only looking at the size I use to be, and then wanting to run to the ice cream shop to have a pity party. Good Luck, ; )

This happened to me on Easter, I gave my nephew a chocolate cupcake. I got frosting on my fingers, my sister said lick it off. I went to the sink and washed it off instead. She said I have iron will power, I just think I know what I have to do and I am doing it.

Thank you all for the welcome. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who has the finger licking/tasting habit. I wish the best of success to everyone.
