  • Newbie's First Message!

Just found this website and love reading all the stories and threads! What a great bunch of people. I started Atkins about ten days ago and feel great. I've been on the "yo yo" diet for far too long. I loose weight only to gain it back again. I'm kind of an all or nothing person, so this time I'm determined to do things right a little at a time so I can live this lifestyle.

My only problem is I'm having a little trouble "counting" carbs. I know I need to so that I can add more carbs back in later, but I tend to just eat a salad and call it good. I'm DETERMINED to be better though

I also like to cook but I've always added a pinch of this a handful of that, etc. So this too, is a big adjustment so that I know how many carbs I added to the recipe!

    Anyone else have these problems???

I look forward to meeting you !
    Jill

    Re: Newbie's First Message!

Welcome.... When I started nine days ago I was having the same problems. It will be so much easier if you go to fitday.com and log what you are eating everyday.. I work fulltime so pack my breakfast and lunch the night before.. log it into fitday so I know how much I have left over for snacks and dinner... I think about what I am going to have for dinner but if I change my mind I will put it into fitday and see if its to much or to little then I will adjust if needed... more carbs, more butter (because my fat intake is to low) or if my protein is low for that day ....

Some very helpful people on this board have told me that a rule of thumb is around 65% fat 30 % protien and 5% carbs.. (my fat intake was to low the first several days) After I bumped it up I started losing weight again.

Stick to it and it will work... just keep posting questions and someone will answer them.. These are great people
