  • Day 3 - totally new to me

    Hi Everyone,
    I am totally new to the Atkins diet. I have done WW on and off during the years but recently have not been successful, so one of my friends who has lost a lot of weight on Atkins suggested it to me. I eat A LOT of carbs and figured it would be really good to give it a go. And so far so good! I started on Saturday at 200.8# and weighed myself this morning and am at 197.0#! Wow! I am trying to not weigh myself everyday and plan to step on the scale on Thursday! So here's hoping!!!!!!!

    Welcome NixL -- have you read the book? We follow the
    2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

    Exercise, take a non-iron multivitamin and drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water (nothing added), daily. If you need anything we try to help each other here as much as possible.

    Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/.

        Giving up the carbs is the best thing you can do for yourself and it works, as you've just found out! Congrats on the loss.
