    Hi my name is Amy and I started the Atkins diet today...I hope I am dong the diet right...This is what I had today:

    breakfast- 1 egg, 4 slices of bacon

    snack- pickle

    lunch- salad with chicken, green pepper, cucumber, egg, and ranch dressing
    and 10 olives

    dinner- steak with TBSP of steak sauce, crab cakes mixed with mayo, worcestershire sauce, salt and old bay, and asparagus

    snack- pickle


    Is this right? How many days will take before I can expect some sort of weight loss? Thanks in advance for any advice or help!!

    Are you reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

    As to you menu, I'll assume the pickles didn't have added sugar, that the "salad" was about 2 cups of lettuce?

    Commercial steak sauce isn't Atkins friendly as it has too much sugar in it. Even Worcestershire sauce is iffy, since it has high fructose corn syrup in it, and molasses (if I recall).

          Welcome to the board. I haven't found any "safe" pickles yet which is annoying cuz I miss them. I don't eat steak so I don't know about those kind of sauces. Green peppers taste good with everything though. I've also cut out all salt because I was never a big fan of salt anyways. How much water have you had to drink so far?

          The first time I started last month, I gained weight (about five pounds during the first four days) before I started losing. It took about four days into my diet for my weight to start coming off. That might have been because I never ate meat at all before this WOE came along. So to answer your question about when you will start to lose I would say that everyone is probably different. However, definitely give yourself three full days on Atkins, then on the fourth day weigh yourself and see how it's gone for you. Good luck!
