  • New to the board, not to Atkins :)

Hello everyone. My name is Joan. I did Atkins back in Nov. of 2003, lost 30 lbs by January of 2004 and was down to 204lbs....then got pregnant. My daughter is now 5 years old and after trying all sorts of other diets and giving Atkins a few tries (failed miserably everytime) I am now dead set on doing this!

I'm on my 2nd day of induction and feeling stronger than ever! I must say, the headaches and heat waves today are really getting on my nerves, but I know that's all part of the detox.

I'm looking forward to reaching my 140 goal weight! I am currently 253.

I look forward to reading all the tips and ideas on here and using this site to help me keep on track and not back down from losing weight!

Thank you! So far so good! I'm on day 4 and still going strong. Went grocery shopping today and it was SO hard to stay focused, but I did! The family got some high carb treats but I got my low carb treats and have been able to ward off cheating.

I'm determined to get this weight off, no matter what!

I need to get me a banner like what some have on here to keep me motivated

          Welcome!

What low carb treats did you get? Are they on the Induction food list?

Atkinsgal08 - Thanks! I got a pork rinds and cheese. I use those as treats. I need to look over that list again. I just did what I remembered. I've also been using ketostix and I've been in the dark pink to light purple for the past 3 days. (been doing this 4 almost 5 days now) so I thought the treats weren't affecting me.

let me know if I'm doing this wrong though, don't want to be messing up on induction. Thanks!

              Here's the list:

The sticks don't tell you if you're doing things right or if a food is affecting you.

They're not reliable for much of anything ... other than knowing you have good hand-eye coordination.

              Here's an article:

Re: New to the board, not to Atkins

Awesome! Thanks atkinsgal08! I just read over the article and copy and pasted the list of foods and put it on word and printed it out! I'll keep that in my purse for when I'm out and one on the fridge so I know what I'm allowed to eat. I didn't see pork rinds on there so I won't eat those anymore and consider myself starting all over today, just to be safe.

The information you just gave me is invaluable and I really appreciate you sharing that with me!

Re: New to the board, not to Atkins

Welcome! You can eat pork rinds - just be careful with me as they are heavy with sodium and can cause water weight problems.

What I find easiest is to plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/. Your weight loss may be more or less than others so don't worry about how much someone else lost, follow the plan the way it's written and you'll have the best results for your body - and you may not loose as quickly or as much during induction as you did before, your body isn't the same as it was then so you may be slower.

Many people start a journal to keep track of themselves. It’s also a great place to meet new people or find old friends.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
