  • Bonjour from France!

    Hello Everyone,

I am 26 (27 tomorrow) years of age and I live in the south of France. I am 180lbs and I want to lose at least 35 lbs.

I am all set to start induction on Sunday as tomorrow is my bday and I am having one final blow out of cake and champagne before turning away from my old life style to a better, healthier, thinner way of living.

I ordered 'The Book' online in English and in French (French for the recipes/produce that I can buy locally and English to understand the science behind Atkins) but due to the volcano eruption Amazon only delivered the French version on Monday so I just read it from cover to cover and the English version JUST got delivered to my desk this morning and it is practically the same except for the recipes and measurments. I plan on reading the English one tonight.

I bought my vitamin supplements yesterday and this evening I am going to the meat and fish markets and the farmers market tomorrow to get prepared for next week. I have started exercising again since about mid March so I am all set to go!!

I am so motivated, I have never been so mentally prepared for something in my life.....reading the book is the best thing I could have ever done.

Also this website is fantasic, you are all a great inspiration and it is a fantastic resource.

Kindest Regards to all and have a great weekend.

    Mon Amour

              Re: Bonjour from France!

              Hi Mon Amie,

Happy birthday!!!! to someone who is about to discover the BEST WOE and WOL you will ever experience. I am going to Paris for 2 months (saved for 3 years) staying in a... er (modest??) hotel in the 14th. I have been many times in past years and can hardly wait.

Now, however, the problem is "eating" during my stay. Due to the exchange rate and other ?circumstances. Dining out is truly out. I can manage a cafe "avec" cream here and there for an excuse to people watch and rest. But I will not have a microwave or stove for my use in my accomodation, (very poor planning). I know that I can buy raw veggies at the markets, and meats at the boulangeries, but if you have any suggestions on how I cannot eat the fantasstic BREADS, etc., I would be grateful. I am bringing a corkscrew, so that I am not totally deprived for my ...er..."room". I have researched as best I can, and will be able to find some nourishment at a few cafes for a French "pittance". I'm aware also that Lunch is my best bet if I HAVE to have a hot, or at least warm plate. I do hope to hear from you with any ideas you may have.
