Hey everyone - great to be here.
I am returning to Atkins after giving it a shot in 2002. At that time, I followed the program exactly for 5 months, but never had the same success that I've seen other men have. I've managed to "maintain" my weight somewhat over the past 8 years, but as I get older, the weight has started creeping back on. I work out at least 3 days a week with cardio and weights, as well as play some sports. Although I am fit, my weight has risen to 236 from 210 in 2002.
Someone told me that the reason I didn't lose as much as is typical is because of the medication I am on for high blood pressure. I take a diuretic for that. I'm hoping that by increasing my exercise this time and giving this another try, I can lose some pounds.
I'll probably end up asking a lot of questions on here!
Been on the program now for only 4 days but doing well so far. I find the diet easy to follow as the I am never hungry. I try to stay prepared with foods that I can eat (low or no carbs) and I take the time to investigate new recipes to prepare to prevent boredom.
Another challenge is my travel - I travel each week for work. But again, I'll try to stay prepared.
Great to be here!
Ric
