  • New to Atkins

    Hi everyone,

I'm Margaret from Ohio. This is my first time through the Atkins diet. Have tried many of them but none of them seemed to work for me.

Can't wait to visit the threads and learn more about this diet.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

      Hi, Margaret! Welcome to ADBB!

Just keep in mind that Atkins isn't a diet that you stop at one point. It's a way of eating for life... and it needs to be that way for one to be successful on it.

Are you also reading the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution?

          Re: New to Atkins

          Welcome -

The best way to learn about Atkins is to read the book. The 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board - if you don't have a copy you really should get one and read it so you know the science behind the plan and how to follow it correctly. www.amazon.com and www.half.com have inexpensive copies if you can't find one locally. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list (What foods can be eaten on Induction?)(What foods can be eaten on Induction?)http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html, eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/. Your weight loss may be more or less than others so don't worry about how much someone else lost, follow the plan the way it's written and you'll have the best results for your body.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
          Carole
