  • Recommiting to a happier ME

Hi my name is Charlie and I'm new to the board and I just wanted to introduce myself . Im 25 and have been trying atkins since October 2009 and was succesful in loosing 26 lbs. Ya atkins ! I started at 215 and went to 189 but in January my job consumed my life for 3 months I had 4 days off and I was sick for 2 of those lol. I work 12 hr shifts so you can see what I mean when I say I let my weight loss take a backburner and just tried to maintain. Well its April and Im officially ready to refocus revamp and get back to my weightloss journey. I wasnt as succesfull as I would had hoped in keeping the weight off I'm now at 195 as of this morning and 2 days into induction I have gained 3lbs (192 start weight). I dont know whats going on I have stayed within the guidlines so Im gonna assume it
is water weight lol. Anyways I just wanted to say hello Atkins Diet Bulletin Board Fam and heres to many more post and succesfully reaching my goal of 160 by July 1.
    Start weight -215
    Current weight - 188
    Goal weight - 160

I was on Atkins from October till December then I took a detour and Im ready to get back started and headed to my goal.

My fear is that now that Im more comftorable with myself Ive lost my motivation to loose the rest of the weight but I need too.

    mini goal 180 -May 15
    mini goal 170 -June 15

    Welcome Charlie

I find that often when we go back we end up not shedding all our "bad" habits that we picked up while "maintaining" So maybe you want to share a menu and we could have a look to see if you need to tweak it.
Also if you were still low carbing when you stepped into re induction you probably will not see a bit drop like the first time because you do not have the same water weight to shred but it should still work.
    Good luck.

I didnt continue low carb totally while i was maintaining I would do 3 days on Atkins 4 days off and visvera every other week.
Heres the break down of what i ate the last 2 days
      4-23
      BK- eggs cheese turkey
SK-pickle, 2 non sweet jello cups, sausage
LH- baked pork chop with salad(eggs ranch cheese bacon bits)
DN-fajita pork(2 oz), vienna sausage(1sm can) and eckermans sausage(4 oz)

      4/24
BK- eggs cheese jimmy dean sausage and bacon
LH 2 cans of tunawith 2tb of miricle whip and slice of meatloaf
SK- small taco salad no shell
DN- red lobster plate ( asparagus, shrimp scampi, cajon shrimp, and crab stuffed shrimp)

      4/25
BK- eggs and tomato with cheese
LH- salad with picanta ranch chicken(2 oz) bacon tomatoes and cheese
      SK- jello

Now that im looking at it I prolly should have passed on the stuffed shrimp. If you have some suggestions please let me know how I can improve my menu in any way.

Re: Recommiting to a happier ME

So what I am seeing is a lot of "hidden" sugars. This is because you are eating so many processed meat products. Atkins warns to be careful with those. (sausages, canned stuff, miracle whip, deli meat)
I am also guessing that some of the restaurant meals with rubs contain sugars. You have to check those our carefully. Taco salad probably had quite a few carbs even without the shell

So I am seeing a lot of sweet stuff

But not enough vegetables. Your carbs should come from this healthy source and not from processed foods. 3 cups of veggies every day.

        What are you drinking.

So my suggestion would be to read labels and clean things up a bit.
If I had trouble losing I would dump that jello. Aspartame can be a staller

Im drinking water with crystal light but I know its a area I can definetly work on increasing. Thanks for the advice I was thinking the same thing about the processed foods last time I cooked everything fresh I was hoping not to do that this time around but it worked so I guess its back to the kitchen.

Water with crystal light would be yet another source of sweetener. You are limited to 3 and you are way over it looks like.
Yes cooking is the key. There is nothing like clean whole foods. Those processed things are trouble.
Make sure you drink real water too. Loads of it

Re: Recommiting to a happier ME

Look at the ingredients list of your Crystal Light - they are mostly chemicals and usually sweetned with aspartame (not recommended by Dr Atkins). Pure water is the best thing to drink - 64 ounces minimum, then you could have maybe 1 crystal light daily or every other day.

I agree with Liv, I see a lot of processed foods - you can make your own taco seasoning to use and freeze portions for later use. You do need more vegetables - most of your carbs daily should come from vegetables. Lettuce isn't a good choice as it's not a good source of nutrients - use spinach leaves or another higher nutrient type green.

When I feel I'm loosing my way I re-read the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) book and find things that I can always work on and change that help me get back on track - it might help you also.

              Good luck to you.

Pay attention to your body measurements, too. Sometimes we lose inches without losing weight, but lost inches are still an indicator of fat loss.
