  • New To Atkins

    Hi everyone,

    So I'm new to Atkins. About 7 years ago my boyfriend did it and lost a major amount of weight. We both recently gained weight and are going to support each other in losing a total of about 200+ pounds (combined). Today was my first day. No carbs but could have ate a little more. We went food shopping and got salads, chicken, steaks and some other none carb items. We got high fiber low carb shake mix and lot of vitamins. I'm really looking forward to this diet but I admit I will def miss some of my favorite carbs (chocolate the most!!). Wish me luck and I will post pictures when I start to see results!

    Hi & welcome to the boards!

    You'll find tons of information, motivation & support here

    Some information: Veggies have carbs! They are "good" carbs, but still carbs. We go by Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002ed) on this board, and we are kind-of sticklers for the rules...you can find them and the list of foods acceptable for induction in stickies at the top of the forums.

    A VERY brief summary:
    we keep our NET carbs < 20 grams during induction
    we get most of our daily carbs from veggies
    we count the carbs in everything we eat - eggs, cheese, veggies, sweeteners (1 carb/serving)
    we limit sweeteners to 3/day
    we drink a minimum of 64oz water (plain)/day
    ...there are more

            Hi everyone! Its been 2 days and already lost 3 pounds. I feel great and planning on starting back at the gym this weekend. I've been very strict with what I eat and I just feel great. I don't feel bloated... Its amazing!

                  GO GO GO!!!

                  I'm starting Atkins and doing a big shopping trip tomorrow with my induction food list. I'm trying not to think of the things I can't have and I'm sure after a short while, it will get easier. Can't really miss what you don't have in front of you.

                  My husband and I also have over 200lbs combined to lose, so you are not alone! Chin up and good luck to you both! Look forward to updates

                    So I've lost 9 pounds in 6 days! Very motivating! Starting back at the gym tomorrow. Haven't cheated yet and I'm very proud of myself! My hope is to be half way to my goal by end of summer! I think 40lbs is def possible by Sept!

                      Starting to really feel great! Looking forward to the gym... Not starting today tho kinda hurt my foot last night and wanna let it heel a little. But I'm gonna make sure I keep eating well and I'm going to try and lose 20lbs total by the end of the month!(If not sooner!)
