  • Hello from Texas!!

    Hi my name is Monica and I started Atkins on Monday. As of this morning I've lost 5lbs. First day was madness, I was cranky, had headaches and craved sweets all day. Yesterday was better, still had a few headaches and craved sweets. Today, I feel really good. Head still hurts a bit, but I had a huge breakfast. Eggs and sausage (from a hog we just had butchered so I know there isn't any added stuff to it). I did add a little(1 1/2tbsp)homemade salsa. Can't figure out if tomatoes are okay. Been eating them since Monday but I ran across a thread that said don't eat them during the first two weeks.
    At any rate, my first goal is 40lbs by June 30. I'm taking my kids to Key West.
    Is this a crazy goal or doable? Looking forward to getting some great advice from these forums. Have a great day! Monica

    162 - 40 lbs loss - Key West Baby!
    Still have more to go but 162 is my first goal!And I'm leaving for Key West June 30th! Totally crazy goal/but totally committed!!!

    Hi there !

    Congrats on your first 5 lbs that is great!! This is day one for me and I can totally relate to the headache and crankyness I think 40 lbs by june is totally doable but it probably depends on how much you have to losse. Keep up the good work

      Welcome -- the headaches are probably what we call "Induction Flu" -- it's just a tired, cranky, headache part of the first few days of induction. After the first few days they should go away and you'll start feeling much better.

      You may loose that much by your vacation date, but you may not, so it's best not to set yourself up. Stay on plan the way it's written, drink plenty of pure water (64oz minimum daily), exercise and take a vitamin w/o iron and see where you are on June 30....you will be pounds less than you are today so that's the good part.
