  • First timer here!

Hello! My name is Shagen and this is my first time on Atkins! This is my 4th day on induction and so far I just think this is too good to be true! I am a huge fan of all the foods allowed in induction and so far haven't missed carbs at all! I never had a problem with my weight until after having my beautiful daughter. I chose to become a stay home mom which was a HUGE lifestyle change for me since I had worked out of the house since I was 13 years old! I don't regret my decision but it's forced me to go through some rough patches that I didn't expect...such as feeling lonely, strapped for cash, etc. Those feelings led to me eating and drinking anything and everything. I just celebrated my 29th birthday and did some real soul searching and decided that I'm the only one who can change how I feel about my life and myself and it's about time I do that so that I can be happy and be a great role model for my daughter. So here I am!!

Good luck to you too Claire! I'm truly amazed at how well this works! I feel like I'm cheating by eating all the foods I love but I guess I'm not if I'm still losing! I can't wait to see the results after two weeks! Let me know how you do as well!

                Re: First timer here!

It's great you like all the induction food - that helps so much! Have you looked at Linda's site for different recipes? I love it and frankly, wouldn't want to be on Atkins without it. http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Your weight loss may be more or less than others so don't worry about how much someone else lost, follow the plan the way it's written and you'll have the best results for your body.

Have you read the book? The 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board - if you don't have a copy you really should get one and read it - it makes following the plan so much easier when you know how it works and why.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily – more is better but at least 64 ounces. Take a vitamin w/o iron daily and exercise. If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.

Hi Carole, thanks for the recipe link, I will check it out for sure! Yes, I have read the book and often refer to it when I'm not sure about something. Thanks for the tips! So far so good, I've lost 9 pounds in one week! I have more energy and don't feel the need to eat constantly! I couldn't be happier!
