  • New to the board and new to Atkins

Hi. My name is Liz. I am 5'2" and weighing in at a whopping 127 lbs. My hubby doesn't even know how much I weigh!!! I have had a really hard time the past 2 years with gaining weight. I have put on almost 50 lbs since January 2008. I suffered a horrible injury which has altered my life drastically. I can no longer walk or stand more then 10 mins. The pain becomes excruciating! The thought of never walking Disney World again brings me to tears.... anyways.... I'm sick and tired of not being able to properly recover because the weight on my legs limits the physical therapy. I HAVE to lose weight!

I am a stay home mom. I home school my daughter. And I basically just sit on the computer or play video games all day. Im about to turn 35 years old, and I have never felt so fat in all my life. So, here I am... looking to better myself. I'm on day 4 and so far so good. I normally don't weigh myself but once a week when I'm dieting, but I couldn't help the temptation this morning. WOW! 4 lbs gone in 4 days. Seeing weight loss just motivates me even more.

Ive spent a week here lurking, copying down recipes, and just absorbing every piece of info I could. I want to say Thanks to everyone who continually posts great ideas for us that are clueless. *Liz*

Welcome Liz --sounds like you are doing real well so far. Make sure you drink enough water - 64oz pure water is the minimum recommended daily.

Did you find Linda's site for recipe's yet? It's a lifesaver - I make the mock-a-foni & cheese and the stuffed green peppers for my whole family (they aren't on Atkins - just me). http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.

    Carole

Are you reading Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

I have been to Lindas site. Many great recipes there, I made a stew from it yesterday that was so yummy! Gonna make the stuffed bell peppers tomorrow.

No I have not read the book yet. I am gonna go pick it up this weekend. Just got a 40% off coupon from Borders in my email. What a deal! But I printed all the rules I have found from various sites, and Im sure I pretty much know most of what the book is gonna tell me. But I am gonna go get it.

Water... I drink water!!! I hardly ever drink anything anything else. Ive never really kept count of how much I drink, but I sip on my cup all day long.

          >>I printed all the rules I have found from various sites,>>

Not all sites have the rules as they are from the book.

          You can trust these though:

I know you'll read things you won't find from "various sites".

I got those two, they were the most helpful for sure!!! For just starting out Im being pretty strict with my carb counting. Im about to whip up some home made ketchup since I cant find a low carb one here where I live. I cant live with out Ketchup!!! LOL

I used to think I couldn't live without chocolate.

              I was wrong.

                Welcome!
127lb is not a whopping weight for your height.
