  • Newbie!

Just found this site yesterday..it is fantastic!! I started Atkins last Sun (4/25/10) and have lost 11 lbs in the first 6 days ~ only 74 more lbs to target!!! A bonus in chosing Atkins to help me slim down was the fact that I was recently diagnosed with extremely severe anemia and I must have weekly iron infusions. My doctor says the dietary iron that is provided by the Atkins diet may help me get a quicker handle on things so possibly I may reduce the frequency of the infusions. I have some of the books..but it seems like I can find almosrt everything I need right here! Right now I just don't have the energy to do much exercise (with the anemia, I get winded walking up the steps) but I hope that changes soon..I am a bit afraid of how it might impact my weight loss, but baby steps, right?!? I am jazzed for the challenge!!

    Welcome to ADBB!

Hopefully one of those books is Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)!

        Re: Newbie!

        Welcome!

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/. Your weight loss may be more or less than others so don't worry about how much someone else lost, follow the plan the way it's written and you'll have the best results for your body.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily – more is better but at least 64 ounces and don't forget to exercise. Hopefully you'll kick the anemia real soon!

The 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board - if you don't have a copy you really should get one and read it so you know the science behind the plan and how to follow it correctly. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html - eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
        Carole
