  • Hi

    Hi. My name is Celia.

I've never tried Atkins before. Honestly, I always thought it sounded crazy. But I know people who have had great results so I picked up the book and decided to give it an honest effort. Started yesterday, May 1st. So far, so good (although, truth be told, I am a little freaked out by the amount of fat I'm consuming).

I was very athletic in high school/college so I was able to stay "curvy" but a desk job + the stress of graduate school lead to a significant waist expansion and I've now spent most of the last decade 40-50 pounds overweight. I carry it well so I didn't worry TOO much about it (only during swimsuit season) but a recent trip to the doctor revealed that I am pre-diabetic. Not good. So it's time to take control of the situation.

I'm finding the success stories on here VERY inspiring and have even "friended" a few folks who posted particularly motivating results. I tend to lose slower than most so positive examples always help keep me in the game.

Hope to interact with more of you as my journey progresses!

      Hi Celia!!!

I'm like you - I loose slower than most so I like to read the stories of others and their success but I know that's not how my body works and have come to terms with it.

Take this one day at a time - read the book, make the best food choices you can, drink plenty of pure water, exercise and take a vitamin daily!

Linda's site has great recipes to help keep your meals delicious and different http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/.

Hope you start a journal so we can follow your success!! Good luck to you.
      Carole

Contrary to popular belief fat will NOT make you fat -- it will keep you feeling full and satisfied longer inbetween meals and is necessary to follow Atkins properly. You'll be fine!!
