:wave Hi everyone, So here goes a little about me.
I'm not new to Atkins - but I have been straying away from Atkins and have not been happy with the results.
I started on Atkins in support for my husband early last year & we both had fabulous results. I however stopped Atkins this past winter season for no better reason than I got lazy & put on 21 lbs.
I don't want to make any excuses for why I stopped Atkins but would rather look ahead to what I will accomplish. I really like low carb. It's a good fit for me and how I prefer to eat. I used to be a persnickity whole foods kind of eater & was never one for pre-packaged, overly-processed, chemical-laden boxed products but like I said - I let this past winter get the better of me & ate junk. A mistake I won't soon let happen again! I also noticed in myself a change in my personality for the worst as well as chronic self-loathing.
I've already shed 15 lbs but have found myself veering away from Atkins & need the support & advice of fellow Atkins fans to keep me headed in the right direction.
I was a member of another low carb board until recently- one that "included" not only Atkins, but Somersize, SouthBeach, Stella Style and a jumble of crazy blends of many of those programs. The Atkins program was getting watered down & diluted by advice from members from the other low carb groups like Somersize & thus the info was getting useless at best. I discovered pretty early on that I disagreed with a lot of advice & allowable foods & found many of the recipes exchanged were heavier on carbs than I am comfortable eating. I am a fan of Atkins & would much rather be in a forum with other Atkins fans & not have to wade thru a litany of posts not tailored to my needs or concerns - which is Atkins based! So here I am!
Having already lost 15 lbs I've regained a sense of feminity, I dote on myself to be & look my best everyday & those around me are benefitting from my weight loss as I am more out-going & receptive to being loved instead of feeling down & dull.
I don't agree that all regular recipes should be converted to low carb; I don't care for the taste of pre-packaged low carb items so I don't bother with them; I don't care for the Atkins Advantage bars - I think even Dr. Atkins would be against them too; I think soy & almond flours are overused in many low carb recipes which defeat the purpose; I prefer simple, fresh, healthy meals my husband & I can cook together & & do us a lifetime of good.
I'm really tickled to have finally found a community with Atkins fans & I'm so impressed with the amount of info shared here & have learned so much in just the few days since I discovered this forum!
I realize I have a smaller weight loss goal than many folks - but whether it's 200 lbs or 20 lbs - it's still weight to lose & more importantly - it's a better way of living my life!
Thanks for reading this & I hope nothing but success for everyone on this forum!
