  • New Member....Do have a small question...

Hello All...I'm new here...My name is Jerra and I'm very determined (probably for all the wrong reasons) but determined nevertheless...lol...
I did Atkins back in 2004...lost 23 lbs....it was easy to do...Weight has crept up PLUS tons more...I'm a sugarholic but not after tonight!!!
I do have a question if anyone has time to answer it....I know this will happen to me so I want to be prepared...What do you do when you just have an absolute craving for something sweet? The last time I did this I would get a teaspoon of PB but I wanted to know if anyone else had a suggestion...
    Thanks so much!!!!!!!!

    Welcome to ADBB!

Some people find that having the opposite of what they're craving works. Some find that refocusing works. Some find a dill pickle works.

Feeding the craving generally doesn't work.

Yes try to starve it out. It gets easier. I say brush your teeth or jump up and down and feel the jiggle.

Re: New Member....Do have a small question...

Welcome! I too still occasionally get a craving. People bring lots of treats to us at work and most of the time it is dessert. I see it sitting there and I think of how good that cupcake or fudge would taste, and think do I really have to go the rest of my life without the yumminess of dessert? And the answer for me is no! There are so many fantastic carb friendly dessert recipes out there. But for those times when I do not have a carb friendly dessert handy, I drink a cup of hot tea with a little cream and a packet of truvia. Sweet and creamy and very satisfying.
I WILL learn to feel comfortable in my own body again!

                    Welcome!

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/. Your weight loss may be more or less than others so don't worry about how much someone else lost, follow the plan the way it's written and you'll have the best results for your body.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily – more is better but at least 64 ounces. Take a vitamin w/o iron daily and exercise.

I hope after a few days you'll think of Atkins not as a diet but as a lifestyle change you'll stick with. Good luck to you.
