  • Its time for change!

I am starting Atkins today for several reasons. 1- I know it works as I have done it in the past 2- I feel better when I follow the Atkins way of eating 3- I lose weight without ever feeling hungry or deprived but the most important reason is my food allergies. It turns out I am allergic to most foods you are not supposed to eat during induction- hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. With that said- maybe that is why I have been successful on this way of eating in the past. Notice I use the words way of eating rather than diet- as this has to be my way of eating. I found out I am allergic to wheat, corn, rice, soy, rye, oat, barely, and yes I hate to say this also peanuts and chocolate- my favorite. Look at all my allergy foods- they are all CARBS!!!! Imagine that! No wonder I lose weight and feel better- because I am cutting out the things I am allergic to. The sad part is most of you can advance and add these things back in your diet- but myself will have to find other things to eat- basically fruit and veggies and other nuts as I advance. It will be a challenge but one I am willing to take. I now find enjoyment looking for recipies I can eat that follow Atkins as well as avoiding allergy foods.

I am personally challenging myself to a 4 week strict Atkins phase to jump start my weight loss- and then I will start to go through the cycles of Atkins. I have 27lbs until my perfect weight will be here. I have lost 46 lbs in the last 3 months- by other means than Atkins- but I always felt awful not to mention hungry. I workout every day so this should not be anything new to me. I am doing strict Atkins to show myself I can break these addictions not only for weight loss- but for my new found allergies. No wonder trying to follow Atkins was hard in the past- it was not so much my sugar addiction as my allergies- as we crave what we should not have!

I will keep you posted along the way- but today marks day 1 of a 4 week challenge. I have always been a daily scale person- but I am switching to once a week- (that will be the hardest part for me)

Any of you wanting to commit to 4 weeks for me- for support or your own personal goals- feel free to- I could use the support!!

Glad to see you here. Make sure you pick up the book if you don't already have it. I don't think you need to do 4 weeks of strict induction with 27 lbs left to go. I think the 2 weeks is good enough and you can stay awhile at RUNG 1 since veggies are very important on this WOL.

I know I probably dont need 4 weeks- however, I think to truely break my addiction I must follow it longer than 2 weeks. This has been a life long eating pattern for me and I think it will take that long to break it. I do have every one of the Atkins books including the latest- and trust me I have read it cover to cover numerous times. I was torn weather or not to only follow induction for two weeks- but like I said, I really think it will take more than two weeks to ensure I have kicked the habit.

what habit are you trying to kick that can't be done in 2 weeks? Once you are in keotsis everything will be much easier for you. For recipes you can fix while following Atkins look at Linda's site: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily – more is better but at least 64 ounces. Take a vitamin w/o iron daily and exercise. You don't have much to loose to moving to Owl and moving up the rungs slowly is something to consider -- we loose the biggest part of our weight on OWL not during induction.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
