Hello Everyone --
I'd like to introduce myself and tell you all a few things.
First, I am a 38yr. old female, 5'7" tall and currently weighing in at 238lbs. (I actually can't believe I'm putting that number in writing.) Although I have always felt as if I struggled with my weight, I have never been this heavy, and I'm really quite ashamed that I've let myself get this way. I am also the extremely proud mother of 12yr. old twin boys. They are the light of my life and keep me on my toes at all times!
My real problems with weight actually began right out of high school. I went away to college, and instead of gaining the "freshman 15," I quickly packed on 25lbs. This put my weight right around 160. When I came home for my first winter break, my mother whisked me away to the doctor to have my thyroid tested. (My mother has been blessed with genes that have given her a 5'6", 120lb. frame.) Of course, no problems with my thyroid...just the food I was eating. By the time I graduated college, my weight was fluctuating between 160-180. I was never happy with this, but no matter how many diets I tried, I just couldn't seem to lose it.
At the time I found out I was pregnant with the twins, I was right at 180. During my pregnancy, I proceeded to pack on 87lbs. Yes, that's right...87lbs!! I gave birth at 267lbs. I came home from the hospital about 25lbs. lighter, and over the past 12yrs. I have tried everything out there to lose weight. Low Fat - Low Cal just doesn't work for me...even with regular exercise. I also lost 30lbs in Weight Watchers and gained all of it back.
So, here I am....on Day 3 of Induction, and I am ready for a change!!! Cutting out the carbohydrates for the past 3 days has already made a difference in the way that I feel, and I am getting excited. I can't wait to weigh in for the first time. I am going to wait for 10 days.
So, that's my story.....sorry it is soooo long. I am really looking forward to the support that I will receive from all of you. I have been reading these boards for several months, and it is awesome!
I am committed to making a positive change, once and for all.
Monica
