  • Here we go again.

Hey all. I'm an Atkins veteran from way back. I've been overweight all my life, and 4 years ago I lost around 50 pounds on Atkins. Then I gained it all back plus about 30 more in the time since. So I'm back and ready to lose it again, this time for good. I'm only 20, yet I have high blood pressure (although I've have this since 13), but have recently been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and depression as a side effect of both of those. It's all related to my weight. I've actually already lost 8 pounds this last month, just by eating healthier. I'm about to restart on Atkins to try and boost my weight loss a bit. I'm already working out 4 days a week (weights/calisthenics Mon. Wed. Fri. Cardio Sat.)

    Wish me luck.

Welcome! You are on the right track.
Anxiety/panic disorder is no picnic. I have struggled with this most of my life. Weird thing-since I gave up gluten in January, I found I have not had ANY panic attacks. Don't know if there is a bona fide connection, but...I feel so much better.
Hope it works the same for you.

        Welcome back!

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over --
http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/. Your weight loss may be more or less than others so don't worry about how much someone else lost, follow the plan the way it's written and you'll have the best results for your body.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily – more is better but at least 64 ounces. The 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board - if you don't have a copy you really should get one and read it so you know the science behind the plan and how to follow it correctly. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food listhttp://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html - eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
        Carole

Thanks imagood1. Yes, the 2002 edition is the one I have. I read it back in 2004 or 05. I think I'll dig it out though and give it good re-read. Just to freshen up.
