  • Another newbie struggling

I need a pep talk! This is the beginning of my third day on induction, IF I stick with it. The first day wasn't bad, and I actually could already tell that I wasn't dealing with cravings all day for the cookies and crackers in the cupboard. Yesterday, day two, was okay until mid-afternoon when I had already had snacks and was still SO hungry. I made up some of those cheese "crackers" (cheese baked until crispy), which filled in a need for something crunchy other than a veggie. They were yummy. But within a short time I was hungry again. Had a good dinner, but after dinner I had this overwhelming feeling that I couldn't stand the thought of another piece of meat, cheese, egg, and veggie. I struggled with those thoughts all evening and ended up deciding to forget this diet, putting away the Atkins book, and having a bowl of All Bran with 1% milk.

Well this morning I'm another 3 pounds down for a total of 6 pounds in 2 days. Even with that cereal last night. That's all nice and good, but this morning the smell of the turkey bacon still in the microwave from yesterday is making me ill (I fixed that by boiling a pyrex with cinnamon-water in the mic). And truly, the thought of eggs or meat or warm leftovers for breakfast is completely unappealing to me.

Has anyone else starting induction gone through this kind of off-putting feeling? Is there a way out or around it? I like losing the weight quite honestly, but I don't know I can stick with this diet plan. Help!??!! Any ideas for how I can make this plan work for me? For health reasons I really need to lose the weight....

I've seen many people complaining about having a rough time (hunger, cravings, lack of energy, etc.) on days 2-4. If you hang in there, it will get much better soon.

Had a good dinner, but after dinner I had this overwhelming feeling that I couldn't stand the thought of another piece of meat, cheese, egg, and veggie.
If you had a "good dinner", were you still hungry after dinner?

If you weren't, then there was no (logical) reason to have the bran and milk.

Cheats don't reflect on the scale the same day... just keep that in mind.

You might also have a high(er) carbohydrate tolerance.

the thought of eggs or meat or warm leftovers for breakfast is completely unappealing to me.
You don't need to have meat, eggs or leftovers for breakfast.

You can have flax crackers with some pesto (homemade, without nuts), or with some tuna/chicken salad, or topped with cheese and vegetables (for e.g., a slice of tomato, some fresh mint or basil, feta cheese)...

You can have an egg nog shake made with eggs (it doesn't taste like eggs).

You can have flax pancakes with butter or a topping of stewed rhubarb (probably you don't have rhubarb in the house though).

You can have a vegetable soup...

    You can have cauliflower pizza...

You just need to be inventive. There are many recipes here:

I just want to add... that like every other diet or wol.. it takes some work..and for me Atkins is great because I love protein...I totally agree that after the 4th day, it got better...I just ate a little more protein, so I wouldn't be hungry...even now if I feel like I want to cheat.. I just make a pan of chicken wings..but that's just me.. also the weight you lose, should be a motivation as well...good luck to you..

          You're getting great advice
I would suggest reading the book carefully so you know why you are eating what you are eating and why those foods are the healthy choice for your body rather than sugars

Here are the ingredients in all bran. Look at how many different form of sugars they add to the product. The fact that you are addicted to this stuff will take some time to break. Keep working on it

WHEAT BRAN, SUGAR, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, MALT FLAVORING, CALCIUM PHOSPHATE, CALCIUM CARBONATE, SALT, SODIUM ASCORBATE AND ASCORBIC ACID (VITAMIN C), REDUCED IRON, NIACINAMIDE, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6), RIBOFLAVIN, (VITAMIN B2), FOLIC ACID, THIAMIN HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B1), VITAMIN A PALMITATE, VITAMIN B12 AND VITAMIN D.

I see you are eating turkey bacon -- you are allowed to have real pork bacon - you don't have have to eat that stuff. Turkey bacon turns my stomach also!

When you are hungry inbetween meals go back and look at what you had for the meal? Did you have enough fat along with your vegetables and protein to keep you feeling full inbetween meals? If not add a protein/fat snack in place of cereal or anything else.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily – more is better but at least 64 ounces. Take a vitamin w/o iron daily and exercise.

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
