  • New and Reading

I am new here. I have borrowed the book from the library and have been reading it.. I have gotten thru the induction phase and am getting ready to read the next step... I have been having alot of digestion problems lately and am hoping that this diet will help me. I have read on several different message boards that this will help me with my acid refulx problems.. I am so ready for some relief from it.

I want to finish reading the book before I start. I have been trying to loose weight for the last 2 years, no matter what I do the scales don't budge and I really don't eat much at all. So I am hoping that this will help me.

My heartburn went away completely as soon as I started Atkins. It hasn't been back! Remember, on Atkins, you have to eat! Starving yourself can screw up your metabolism.

        Best wishes for success!

            Re: New and Reading

Welcome! I use to say the same thing "I don't eat much at all, why can't I loose weight?"....well, since I started Atkins I found I have to eat to loose - what a concept! Of course you can't eat just anything there are guidelines as to what foods you can eat and in what order you add foods back.

I see you are over 50 - we have a little group of ladies who chat back and forth -- we're all over 50 so we have a lot in common and we help each other as much as we can. We'd love to have you join us if you'd like to. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...say-hi-54.html.

Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/. Your weight loss may be more or less than others so don't worry about how much someone else lost, follow the plan the way it's written and you'll have the best results for your body.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily – more is better but at least 64 ounces. Take a vitamin w/o iron daily and exercise.

The 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board - if you don't have a copy you really should get one and read it so you know the science behind the plan and how to follow it correctly. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html - eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

We're always here if you need anything!
