  • Brand new to the site but not dieting

    Hello everyone,

My name is Mary and I am very excited about doing Atkins. This isn't my first attempt at losing weight or atkins but i feel this is a pivotal time in my life to go with this inner empowerment we all have been given. I will be successful this time. "Why is this time different?" you say, well I am the heaviest I have ever been and I am only getting older, i want to look back over my life knowing i have overcome what i have allowed to hinder me for years and hold the weight loss crown once and for all.

In doing that i am going to need as well as supply support on and in these forums, I have already received valuable info and am looking to make friends. I re-started atkins on May 2, at 365 lbs "whoa" and today is my 8th day, i am down five pounds and counting. Induction is interesting, and in the past i thought i could do this but old thinking crept in and i did not continue, this time i am just taking it literally moment by moment and counting all the small things that add up to goals. It is helping.

I don't really have a goal weight at this time since it is very critical for me to focus on 10lbs at a time. However i just desire to be healthy and enjoy the only life on earth i will have and if i can help or encourage some one then this will solidify that i am not alone and others can share in my joy and i in theirs. Well i've certainly said more than a mouthful but would love feedback and if any questions go for it. I want to say good luck to all who are moving toward their goal.

        Welcome!

Here are some ideas to help you along the way. Plan your meals for a few days so you have everything legal in your home. Linda's recipe site is very helpful with delicious recipes - it will help keep you from eating the same thing over and over -- http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/. Your weight loss may be more or less than others so don't worry about how much someone else lost, follow the plan the way it's written and you'll have the best results for your body.

Drink a minimum 64 ounces of pure water daily – more is better but at least 64 ounces. Take a vitamin w/o iron daily and exercise.

The 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) is our guideline here on the board - if you don't have a copy you really should get one and read it so you know the science behind the plan and how to follow it correctly. Eat foods listed on the acceptable food list
http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html - eating a variety of foods and vegetables and count all “net carbs” (carb minus fiber equal net carbs).

If you need anything we’re here to help you!! Good luck.
        Carole
