  • Hi.

I'm not very experienced in these things, so bear with me please. My name is Susan and I live in Winona, Ontario Canada. I am married with 4 children ages 30, 28, 26 and 19. They are the love of my life.

I recently started Atkins because of health concerns. My sugar was up and they were threatening to put me on medication for diabetes. My father died last year of complications due to diabetes and he suffered immeasurably the last year of his life because of them. I was scared stiff. I had done some research and they recommended a low-starch diet. Thus, I joined Atkins.

I was just at the doctor's on Friday. All my levels are down and I don't have to see her again, just have my blood done.

No more cravings for junk (I believe I am a carb-addict); no more hunger. Just love it.

Now, if someone can explain tags and Trackbacks to me I would greatly appreciate it.

Looking forward to talking to others.

    Re: Hi.

Welcome -- glad to hear your blood sugar numbers are back in line. If you would like more help there is a diabetes forum where some of us chat back and forth and help each other.

Sounds like you are off to a good start!

Tags are key words - you can do a search for a particular word and all the threads with that word will come up.

    Good luck to you.
    Carole

      Re: Hi.

Thanks for the welcome and info Carole. I know that this has to be a life-style change for me. At first I thought, I'll lose the weight then go back to eating bread, potatoes, etc. but found out I cannot do that. First taste of bread, and boy, am I on non-stop ride...

        Re: Hi.

Hello Susan and welcome. No worries, I still do know how to do too much here as well, as I am not computer literate.... I think that this plan, has saved my life, I could have had so many medical issues at my highest weight, but I didn't.. just my blood pressure, which has come down thru this way of eating and exercising. I am just hoping that I haven't caused any damages in the long run.. but good luck and again warm welcome to you..

I've been trying to get my ticker onto my signature page. I just can't figure it out? Any suggestions?

                  Re: Hi.

You look fantastic. If you don't mind, I think I will use your pictures as motivation, until I reach a place where I can take a picture of myself (or let someone) and actually look at it without loathing.
