  • Hi! New to this website! Day 2 of Induction

Hi all! New to this website, I was looking for support/encouragement and I found ya'll! I did Atkins last year and lost 27 lbs. Then for some reason, decided to put anything I wanted in my mouth. It took me about 4 months, but I have gained 17 lbs back. Thing is, I feel bigger than I did before, almost like I gained it ALL back in my stomach and hips.
Anyways, I have read the book and feel pretty good about re-starting again. I have a couple of questions though (and Im apologizing in advance) After searching a couple of websites I read that once you gain the weight back its twice as hard to loose it again even if you do the diet exactly the way your suppose to. And, I like to do happy hour with my qirlfriends, this is a frequent thing. I know alcohol is a no no during induction, but after the 14 days, what can I have that will not totally alter the work that I've done? And lastly, I read something about an egg/meat fast which you do for 3 days to kickstart induction. Im going to come right out and say Im on day 2 of that fast. What makes me question it is no where in the book does Dr. Atkins say you should have to do this. So those are my questions! Im very happy to be here, and whatever responses I get are much appreciated!

Re: Hi! New to this website! Day 2 of Induction

    Hi welcome back
I am sure you can find all kind of stuff on the net about everything. You will have to decide what it is logical to believe in.

It is NOT true that it is harder to lose second time. For most people it is the same. But many people find it easier to cheat the second time and therefore they do not lose very well.

Alcohol is an issue - you probably need to thin whether this habit is really doable when you are trying to lose weight/
The rule is that alchol can be tried out as part of the Rung system on OWL. It is the fifth rung. So it comes after you tried out more veggies, dairy, nuts and berries
I am not sure what is good to have but there are some drinks that are zero carbs. However drinking alcohol gives you empty calories and the body will go on hold losing weight while it is using up those calories

Fat fast is a bit extreme and usually do not work at all. You may lose some but as soon as you come out of it it will just come back on again. And eating that few calories is not going to make you feel very good.
We tell people to NOT do it.
You will be fine just following normal induction and follow all the rules.

    Glad you joined us.

      Hi & welcome!

Regular induction works fine for most people, the fat fast is really only used for people who can't lose any other way (I believe this is what Dr. Atkins says about it in DANDR).

Best wishes for success on your new WOE
