  • Greetings!

    Hello All,

I am a Canadian living here in Dubai, U.A.E. (Middle East). This is about the fourth time I've actually started with Atkins, but have been a yo-yo dieter for a good part of my life. Back in high school I was considered as average weight, but had bad self esteem and would spend my hard earned part time money on diet centres. After having two children, I just cannot seem to get this stubborn weight around my belly, hips, midsection in general, plus my chest OFF once and for all! We just moved here overseas from British Columbia, Canada, and let me tell you it is hot as heck already being May, which is so unlike the weather back home. It is very dangerous being the weight that I am, and all the more for me to get rid of it once and for all! It is also swimming season the rest of the year (well all through the year if you can bear the heat in the summer (May to September), and all the more reasons to look good in a bathing suit, and at least feel comfortable!

I'm starting induction tomorrow morning , and have already planned my menu for the day, I will have a few hard boiled eggs with a few glasses of water for breakfast, for snacks I will bring to work some extra hard boiled eggs, and for lunch a salad with some cooked meat on top, for dinner I will eat some lamb or chicken meat with some cooked veggies.

I'm going to do it this time! :nod

        thanks for the encouragement!

The only real problem i'm having is my DH, he is not really understanding the Atkins way. There is a nutrition centre here that I'm weighing myself at every once in a while (which also checks BMI, etc and fluid distribution in the body), and that centre promotes Atkins in a weird way. They sell Atkins products, but the doctors there don't really promote Atkins right, they have this low fat version of Atkins, which drives me nuts. I'm just going to do Atkins correctly, and just get the results I want to get, and just go to that Centre to get weighed.

I was a lot smaller before having kids, and cannot wait to get back down below 200...

thanks again for the encouragement! :hug

          Welcome to the board!

You've found a great place for motivations and support.

There is no such thing as a "low fat" version of Atkins. If it's low fat then it ain't Atkins. The fats are what keeps you satiated and allow you to eat less and lose the weight. The fats decrease as you progress through the plan. Have your husband read the book, then maybe he will understand.

          Good luck!
          Jim

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?
