  • New and already improved......

I started Adkins about a week ago and have dropped 8 pounds. I know a lot is water weight, but it sure feels good.

I am disabled so exercise is limited, but I am doing some and got my excercise bike out last night and started spinning. I am divorced, mother of two grown sons, three grandchildren and a faithful companion my cat.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone and I am glad to be here. Everyone has been so kind and encouraging that "can't" is not even an option anymore. :dancingb:

Thank you ztachick for the nice welcome.

I think your idea of mini goals is a good one. My total loss needs to be 110 pounds and right now I am shooting for 60, but maybe smaller would be more in line. Maybe 10 or 20 at a time would be better.

yea- here's an example of how i did mine- i started at 262, so my 1st goal was 240 then 220 then to be 199, then 175(kinda close- then 150 140 130 an dfinal, jsut use personal reasons or significant #'s to set several mini goals, its really h elped me cuz when i 1st started the whole amount was jsut too overwhenlming

              Blue,
I see from you signature that you are older, which I am too. I have found that unfortunately for me, I am losing slower than most. I have been doing this for about a month, and only lost 5 lbs during induction. This board has spurred me on tho, giving me advice and encouragement to keep pushing forward. I dont have as much to lose as you but there are all types at all levels here at this board so its nice to know there are many of us that all fighting the same battle in one way or another.

Keep on spinning, its a great way to burn those calories and for older folks thats also important.

Welcome and keep posting, I will be interested in watching your progress!

Hi Cathy. Before I started Adkins I couldn't lose weight no matter what diet I was on including starvation. Then after gaining 10 more pounds on SB I knew I was going the wrong way for supposedly being on a diet. I found this site and the weight started coming off. I know I will slow down and that is okay as long as I keep going down and not up.

You are right, at our age losing is a lot harder. Even 5 pounds is a great feat for us. So hang in there Cathy and if you need someone to talk to - I will be here.

                  Welcome to the board!

As you can see from the replies you've received so far this place is a great source of motivation and support.

                  Good luck!
