  • Just out of College, Time to Change

    Hello Everyone

I am brand new to this board as well as this lifestyle change. Let me start off by introducing my self. I am a 22 year old guy who has just finished college. I tried Atkins once last year while at college but at the time it just wasn’t working for me with my whole college life style. I have since graduated and have moved on from college and am ready for this life style change.

I have been over weight basically since I started college. All the late night pizza's, junk food, fast food, and endless beers took a toll on me and I gained allot of weight. I have since given up drinking and have started the Atkins diet. I started it yesterday (May 16th) and plan to stay on induction until September or October.

My physical stats are: 6'2, 268lbs. I am setting a goal weight of 200lbs for December 2005. I am wondering is this a realistic goal for me?

I'm also wondering if there is anyone that would like to chat through AOL IM or yahoo messenger and become an Atkins buddy of mine.

Like I said, this is all very new to me. I am coming off a lifestyle that consisted of lots of partying and eating lots of junk food and fast food.

Anyone that would like to share some stories or hints, please feel free to e-mail me at mntwins2005@yahoo.com.

Thanks everyone for listening and I am very excited to start this new chapter in my life.

    welcome to ADBB :wave
your goal weight and speed of achieval will depend solely on you and the amount of hard work you put in doing your Atkins.
If you haven't already get a copy of the 2002 DR ATKINS' NEW DIET REVOLUTION and read it cover to cover.
if the food isn't on the chapter 11 acceptable foods lists don't stic it in your mouth.

You just got 17000 new Atkins buddies so check out the boards. start a journal and folk will drop in and check up on you. post in the 14 day induction forum any questions you might have and induction answers will be forth coming. When you move to OWL use the OWL board and get support and answers as you test the great food experient part of the program. Join one or all of our exercise challenges a new 6 week exercise challege is just starting and the ADBB pres challenge is always open for new folk.

    Happy low carbing.

        Welcome to the board!

I'm also 6'2" and a bit older than you, and I started a lot heavier than you. BUT that all said I lost 50 pounds in the first three months. I've maintained the loss for nine months and am starting back up full speed. Like 2Big said (listen to her, she's our resident guru) it only works as well as the effort you put in. I'm living proof of both extremes.

Good luck! We're all here for you!
        Jim

Yes I'm eating a smore in the picture, how do you think I got so fat?
